Hello to all, Hello to myself,

(A note about yesterday’s post… It was a thought that came to me yesterday during a yoga class at my neighborhood recreation center.  The yoga teacher was telling us a story about the lotus and how it grows out of the muck and murky waters… In that moment, the little thought of yesterday’s post came to me and I thought I would share it with you.  I am not a poet, I am not even sure it is a poem… but, I liked the thought and I felt it would communicate best without additional writings… so that is why it was presented in that fashion.  The picture is a purple lotus, purple has always been my favorite color.  And now, I feel that the purple lotus is my flower.  Thank you for being with me.)

Today is Christmas Eve and it is a holiday that we celebrate in our home.  So that is where my thoughts are today… my thoughts are on Christmas, on Christ, on my family, on love, and on God’s blessings upon us.

We are hosting a Christmas Eve dinner at our house.  The guests are my wife’s parents, her brother and his wife.  I wanted to write a special prayer for the dinner… this is what I came up with…

Christmas is an acknowledgement of our receipt of God’s blessing. God gives us all gifts, all bounties, and many kinds of messages and messengers. Today, We celebrate the gift of God’s love through the messenger, Jesus Christ. Jesus was a man and a human being… and we are human beings… in that we know that we are the same as Jesus. Jesus was of God… and through him, we know that we are the same.   I do not believe that Jesus is the only messenger of God, but he is a messenger that we show our great appreciation and gratitude to God for his deliverance to us on this day, and tomorrow, and forever.

We celebrate the birth of Christ. Which is our own birth, which is the union of our physical self and our true self, which is the presence of true love.

Thank you God, for your son, our brother… Jesus Christ. Thank you for our presence with love and peace. May we be more open and present in our lives to share these truths with ourselves, with our families, with our neighbors, and with all that is God.

Amen.

Thank you for being, Michael.
